Build the shop. Prepare the order handover.

Softglimmer designs and develops Shopify stores for Birmingham merchants, from a first online shop to an existing-store improvement or migration. We plan product discovery, responsive templates and the supported purchase journey with the people who maintain the catalogue and handle orders. Shipping and collection choices belong in that discussion alongside the storefront design. Our Ranchi studio works remotely with your merchant owner, combining implementation with practical store review and handover.

An example journey, shaped around your requirements.

Commission the store as a customer and merchant experience.

Discovery starts with the products, the customers and the work that follows an order. We review the catalogue structure, product options, buying information and present store or source material. A useful first release has a stated range of products and complete order journeys. An existing store may instead need a focused theme, content or operating improvement; the proposal explains what is changing and what stays.

The build can include collection and product templates, responsive theme work, approved product content, supporting information and the selected payment, shipping, pickup or app arrangements. We inspect the actual merchant setup before agreeing a particular configuration or custom function. Content entry, data migration, account access and recurring costs receive an explicit place in the scope.

The customer-facing experience should explain the choices the merchant can support. Product information, availability wording, delivery terms and order messages need approved business inputs. The merchant also needs to recognise the selected method and know who takes the next action. We review those two sides together, so a polished product page is followed by an understandable operating handover.

Choose the engagement before choosing extra features.

The starting point determines the design, implementation and preservation work.

01

Launch a new Shopify store

Plan the initial catalogue, essential templates and supported order methods. Build with real products and agree the account, content and fulfilment owners before release.

02

Improve a store already in use

Inspect the current theme, apps, customer journey and staff process. A focused change can retain working arrangements; a wider redesign should have a clear reason and preservation plan.

03

Move a catalogue or storefront

Inventory the records, images and useful addresses included in the move. Agree the supported transfer and reconciliation; customer or order history requires its own stated treatment.

Receive the storefront and the knowledge to operate it.

Each output has a named business approver and a practical review task.

01

Catalogue and buying plan

An approved structure for products, collections, options and important buying information, with representative products and source owners.

02

Responsive store templates

The agreed home, collection, product, cart and supporting layouts use real catalogue material and relevant phone conditions.

03

Theme and content implementation

Reusable sections and scoped product content are prepared for the chosen design. Custom behaviour is distinguished from theme configuration.

04

Supported order setup

The selected payment and fulfilment methods are reviewed against actual provider accounts, fees, apps and store capabilities.

05

Customer and staff checks

Follow an approved test purchase into the information and actions available to the merchant. Keep test orders separate from live customer trading.

06

Merchant handover

Demonstrate product edits, collection changes and the agreed order-handling routine. Record subscriptions, account ownership and the continuing support route.

A hypothetical working example

The customer chooses collection, but the team prepares a shipment.

Hypothetical example: a merchant offers shipping and pickup for an approved product range. A customer selects pickup, while the colleague preparing orders reads only the item list and begins packing for dispatch. The project needs to agree how the chosen method is recognised, who prepares the order and what tells the customer it is ready. This example tests an operating handoff within a complete store commission; it is not a Birmingham client result.

Approve the customer promise

Identify the pickup location, usable instructions, preparation responsibility and shipping alternative. The business supplies the collection and delivery terms. Compare the storefront wording with the method offered in the actual checkout and order record.

Rehearse the merchant routine

Shopify documents pickup setup by location and ready-for-pickup notifications. Review the actual store configuration and demonstrate how the merchant prepares and updates the order. The agreed customer message should follow the approved operating step, rather than staff guessing from a payment confirmation.

    Prepare the merchant

Illustrative order-method review: merchant-approved instructions, staff actions and customer communication are checked together.

Review an ordinary order and an awkward one before release.

Choose representative products and the supported order methods for the actual store. Follow a shipping order and a pickup order from product selection through checkout and the merchant view. Ask the colleague handling orders to explain what they would do next. Include a method that is unavailable for the chosen product or location, so customer wording and staff interpretation can be reviewed before trading begins.

Your merchant owner approves products, prices, delivery areas, collection instructions and policy information. We agree who prepares descriptions and images, enters or imports the catalogue and reconciles changes. Required apps, themes, platform subscriptions and provider charges are separate cost inputs. More locations, complex fulfilment connections, a wider catalogue or a custom buying interaction can change the development and review work.

For Birmingham and Ranchi reviews, use dated Europe/London and Asia/Kolkata meetings with a merchant approver and an order-handling contact. Bring the existing store, product samples, installed tools and the intended launch range. Before handover, your editor changes an approved product and your operating colleague rehearses the scoped order routine. The support arrangement names who helps with later theme, app or process changes.

Build the store around a reviewable purchase.

The work progresses through named decisions, with written feedback between remote reviews.

  1. 01

    Discover the selling model

Review products, customers, current tools and order handling. Compare launch, improvement and migration work and prepare the written scope.

  2. 02

    Design with real products

Review catalogue navigation and representative templates. Settle important buying information and the supported order choices before building the wider range.

  3. 03

    Implement and rehearse

Build the scoped storefront and connections. Use approved test arrangements to inspect customer choices and merchant outcomes.

  4. 04

    Release and equip

Confirm the launch and recovery arrangements supported by the setup. Explain routine edits, operating responsibilities and continuing care.

Questions before starting the project.

Use these answers to prepare the brief and compare the work included.

Can you build a full store rather than only change delivery settings?

Yes. We can scope catalogue planning, responsive store design, implementation, content, supported order connections and merchant handover. Pickup and shipping are operating decisions within that wider project, not a requirement that every merchant has the same problem.

Can we keep our present theme and apps?

We review them before recommending a change. A focused improvement can preserve working functions when they support the required journey. A replacement theme, app or platform move needs its own reason, transfer plan and checks.

Who decides the pickup and shipping rules?

The merchant approves the actual selling, preparation and delivery arrangements. We review what the chosen store and providers support, implement the agreed setup and demonstrate the customer and staff journeys with those rules.

What should we send for a scope and estimate?

Share the current store or source catalogue, product variety, desired templates, order methods and required tools. Identify who owns the catalogue and fulfilment. Content work, migration, custom design, connections and recurring dependencies all help define the estimate and handover.
