A Shopify store your customers can shop. And your team can run.
For a Mumbai retailer taking its catalogue online, the storefront is only part of the job. Product variants, stock, delivery information and the way staff maintain the store shape the buying experience. Softglimmer plans Shopify design and development around those details, working remotely from our Ranchi studio with named responsibilities and review points.
Collections, variants and product information agreed before the build.
02
Storefront experience
Responsive templates with a clear route from discovery to purchase.
03
Team handover
Editing, accounts and order responsibilities made explicit.
An example journey, shaped around your requirements.
Start with the real task
Begin with one complete purchase, not a homepage.
Choose a representative product and follow the customer from discovery to the order confirmation. This makes missing information visible early: a size guide, a delivery restriction, a variant that cannot be purchased or an unclear returns link. The design brief becomes easier to assess when everyone can see the same journey.
Give the catalogue a useful structure
Agree which products belong in collections, which attributes become filters and which differences are genuine variants. A catalogue spreadsheet with consistent names and approved descriptions saves repeated changes once templates are built.
Make operating rules visible to the shopper
Your team supplies the actual shipping areas, payment choices, stock rules and returns policy. We turn those approved rules into clear product and support content. We do not invent delivery promises or claim integrations are working before they have been tested.
A practical working journey
01
Find the right product
Collection navigation and useful filters help the buyer narrow the choice.
02
Understand the purchase
Product information explains variants, availability and the next step.
03
Place and manage the order
A tested purchase path connects the storefront with the team handling orders.
Illustrative workflow. The final scope follows your business requirements.
Decisions before design
Choose the scope around the actual problem.
A new launch, a theme improvement and a platform migration need different plans. We establish which one you need before quoting the build.
01
Launch a new store
Start with a manageable catalogue, the essential templates and a real fulfilment process. Confirm who will upload product information, approve policy copy and own the Shopify account. A phased catalogue launch may be more useful than waiting for every product to be photographed.
02
Improve an existing storefront
Identify the steps customers struggle with before changing the whole theme. Product discovery, mobile layout and incomplete product information may need targeted work. Keep a record of existing apps and custom sections so an improvement does not remove a useful capability.
03
Move from another platform
Inventory products, collections, useful URLs and customer-facing content. Agree which data can be migrated, how redirects will be reviewed and how orders will be handled during cutover. Historical customer and order migration is a separately defined requirement.
A reviewable scope
Know what you will be reviewing.
The proposal separates design work, catalogue preparation, integrations and paid platform costs so there is a clear acceptance checklist.
01
Storefront and page templates
Responsive collection, product and supporting pages built around the approved shopping journey.
02
Catalogue model
A documented approach to variants, collections and product attributes, with sample products checked before the full import.
03
Editable sections
Useful theme sections and clear editing boundaries for the content your team changes regularly.
04
App and integration review
A list of required apps, permissions, recurring costs and the behaviour each integration must demonstrate.
05
Purchase-path checks
Agreed scenarios covering mobile browsing, variants, payment handoff and order notifications with suitable test data.
06
Handover and ownership
An account-access checklist, editing walkthrough and documented support responsibilities after release.
Prepare the brief
Prepare the catalogue before the design review.
Bring a representative selection of products rather than an unstructured folder of assets. We can identify the page model from a small approved sample, then plan the larger content job accurately.
Product information
Share names, prices, variant values, product identifiers and the source of stock information. Include a few difficult cases, such as a made-to-order item or a product with several sizes. These cases expose requirements that a simple demo product can hide.
Commercial and fulfilment rules
Confirm actual payment options, dispatch responsibilities, delivery areas and the route for customer support. Tax, policy and regulatory wording should be approved by the people responsible for the business. We implement the agreed presentation and workflow.
Store ownership and costs
The business should own its platform account, domain and paid apps. Put subscriptions, premium themes, photography, content entry and ongoing support in the budget separately from the development scope. This makes competing proposals easier to compare.
From brief to handover
Build around a working sample, then expand.
Mumbai reviews are coordinated remotely from Ranchi in Indian Standard Time. We agree a shared review calendar and keep decisions in a written project record.
01
Discover
Review the catalogue, current platform and operating process. Record unresolved decisions and separate essential launch features from later improvements.
02
Prototype
Approve the product and collection experience on mobile and desktop using real sample content. Check editing needs alongside the customer journey.
03
Implement and test
Build the agreed templates and integrations, then review representative buying scenarios and content. Keep launch changes in a checklist with named owners.
04
Release and hand over
Agree the cutover window, account ownership and support route. Confirm the team can make the expected edits and handle an incoming order.
Questions before you commission the work.
Useful answers about scope, ownership and remote delivery.
Do you have a Mumbai office?
Our studio is in Ranchi. We serve Mumbai businesses remotely and agree review times in IST. This page describes the service arrangement, not a local branch.
Can you improve a store without replacing everything?
Yes, if the current theme and app setup can support the required changes. We first review the existing configuration and identify whether targeted improvements or a rebuild will be more maintainable.
Are Shopify subscriptions and paid apps included?
They are separate unless a proposal explicitly includes them. We list platform, theme and app costs and identify who owns each account before implementation.
Can you guarantee sales or search rankings?
No. We can define and test the storefront work and plan useful SEO foundations. Sales also depend on the offer, pricing, traffic and operations; search visibility depends on factors beyond a development project.
